Reports from the northern regions of Russia's Maritime territory have the area blanketed by a creamy reddish snow caused by a mixture of weather patterns.

Government officials have been broadcasting non-stop weather bulletins to inform the public of the unique and unusual natural phenomenon.

Researchers and meteorologists have concluded the red snow is due to sand storms in neighboring Mongolia.

Apparently a cyclone passed over Mongolia on its way to Russia causing sand particles to be driven up into the air changing the color of the snow.

According to other news reports the red snow comes just weeks after yellow snow, caused by pollution from an oil and gas factory, fell on Russia's Far East island of Sakhalin.
