A teen from a Chicago suburb returned the $167 he stole from a Dunkin' Donuts store, but police say he didn't get off the hook for his crime.
The 17-year-old from Hinsdale, Ill. will face charges of aggravated robbery despite his remorse, which drove him to return to the doughnut store the day after he robbed it to give back the stolen money, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The store's surveillance camera captured images of the robbery and the return.
When he came back to return the money, the same female clerk who he'd robbed the day before was working. He gave back the money with a hand-written apology, the Tribune reported.
Before riding away on his bicycle, he tried to hug the woman and asked for her forgiveness, reports said.
Police later arrested the teen and took him to the DuPage County Jail.
