New evidence indicates a 33-year-old South Korean man may not have died due to an exploding cell phone battery. The man's wounds were "too dispersed to be caused by a cell phone explosion," a coroner told a South Korean news service.
Although preliminary, autopsy results seemed to deflect accusations an LG Electronics cell phone exploded in the shirt pocket of the quarry worker. Wednesday, police and medical authorities said fatal internal wounds were caused by the phone's exploding battery.
Thursday, however, an unidentified coroner told the Yonhap news agency, officials will need to examine accident reports and the phone. LG has denied its phone could have killed the man.
Final results from the autopsy will be available in 15 days, the AP reported.
