Newport News Animal Services Division is looking for the owner of a golden retriever pooch mix that survived three days in the James River.

The pooch, who was believed to have drowned on Friday, was found alive Sunday. The owners of the dog were fishing when it jumped off the deck and was pulled under water.

However, the research team decided to cancel the emergency Friday because the dog could not be found and they thought it probably drowned. But Sunday morning the officers spotted a dog stuck along the shore.

The extremely weak dog was soon found with a dislocated hip. AP now reports that the dog's hip has now got back into place and he is now eating well and healthy.
