A thief tried to rob a Mexican restaurant, but couldn't get the job done when he encountered an employee who pretended he didn't speak English.

Muncie police Sgt. Al Williams says that when James Adams, 44, tried to rob the Puerto Vallarta Mexican Restaurant and Cantina, one employee stalled the thief by pretending he only spoke Spanish.

This bought time for another employee and a customer to call the police.

Police arrested Adams on charges of attempted robbery and robbery.
