A Chinese restaurant was cited for two health violations after one of its employee was found stomping on garlic with his shoes on.
Rockland County Health Department officials investigated the Great China Buffet restaurant after an employee at a nearby store alerted them to the unhygienic act, which he recorded on his cell phone.
The pictures allegedly showed an unidentified employee wearing boots while stomping on a huge bowl of garlic in the alley outside.
Dan Barreto, who used to eat at the restaurant, told the Associated Press: "There he was just jumping up and down on it, smashing it up, having a good time."
Considering the fact that a person's shoe or boot is not a proper instrument to use in food preparation, health department cited the restaurant with two violations and a warning for a first offense.
However, if it happens again, the department reserves the right to impose $1,000 fines per violation.
Great China Buffet restaurant claims that the worker caught in the pictures had been fired and the food prepared by that garlic was not served to any customer. The health department however plans to inspect the restaurant again.
