An elderly Australian couple take police on a 1,400 mile chase in protest after the wife was denied an extension of her driving license because of old age. Tom and Marian Foulkes, both in their 80s, drove from their Melbourne home in the southern state of Victoria to the north of New South Wales state and halfway back again, avoiding police searching for them.

According to Reuters, local police and newspapers have reported the defrocking of five Thai Buddhist monks after they got into a brawl with monks from a nearby temple. The Manager newspaper reported that the street fight came after years of antagonism between monks from the two temples who had often exchanged curses, insults and rude gestures as they collected alms on different sides of a road.

Blood from sheep butchered in a religious ritual at one of South Africa's busiest tourist beaches could lure sharks towards those in the water. The Leader of the Healing Oracle, Prophet Moses Michael said the ritual was inspired by the Old Testament to help cure sick people.
