Cranston, Rhode Island (AHN) In an unusual display of holiday cheer, a Rhode Island man has set up a Christmas shrine of hotel heiress Paris Hilton in his front yard.
The display features blown-up photographs of Hilton with strands of Christmas lights surrounding them. The display is the work of Joe Moretti, a designer who was arrested last year for trespassing on Martha Stewart's property in Maine.
Some of the photos depict Hilton in a pink top that doesn't leave much to the imagination. There are also photos of Hilton's famed Chihuahua, Tinkerbell, in the display. "If it's offending anyone, I apologize," Moretti says in an interview. "That's not the intent. The intent is to be different and to be creative and let them see a little bit of Hollywood or New York - bring it to Cranston."
A number of cars slowed down in front of the display. AP reports that the display includes a list entitled "How to Be a Hilton" with Hilton sayings like "An entrance is everything" and "Never wake before 10 a.m."
There have been mixed reactions from Moretti's neighbors. "It's nothing more than they could see on TV, on normal stations - or actually at school," says RI local, Stefanie D'Angelos.
Others, however, did not have such positive reviews. "It has nothing to do with the holiday, and it doesn't suggest anything that's appropriate to this time of year," Judy Gershman says.
This is the latest of displays in Moretti's front yard. He has used the displays to pay homage to Madonna, Princess Diana and Martha Stewart.
