A 48-year-old robber, who refused to take $10 bill from his victim because he only wanted $4, was caught Tuesday.

Police said that after he took the $4 from his victim, the suspect hurriedly left, only to be captured a few blocks from the place of the incident.

The suspect, James Mitchell was arraigned on robbery and weapon charges Tuesday while his lawyer, Arlene Popkin, refused to comment.

"This is really is an odd case, but it is a robbery," said Police Captain Joseph DeCarlo.

Police said the confrontation started when an 18-year old victim bought an artificial rose.

"He came out of the store and was approached by the suspect, who said, 'Give me the rose,'" DeCarlo said. "The kid told him, 'Go in there and get one.' But the suspect says, 'I want that one, and your money, too,' and pulls out a knife.

When the victim said he only had $10 in his pocket, the suspect said he only wanted $4, DeCarlo said.

"He tells the kid to go into the pizza parlor and get change," DeCarlo said. "Then the kid comes out, he takes his $4 and he leaves."

Mitchell could not say why he wanted $4.
