According to sources, western Indian villagers have started idolizing rock fragments from a meteor shower. Some villagers imagine that the meteorites are the rocks that Rama, the Ramayana's Hindu epic hero, gathered to make the bridge to rescue his kidnapped wife. The Times of India reported that the villagers of Gujarat state's Kutch region have been searching for rock fragments after a meteor shower made streaks of light over three populated districts late Monday.

In what started as a way to keep late night revelers away from a suburban Sydney Park, is now getting on the nerves of nearby residents. The local council in Rockdale, a southern suburb in Sydney, started a six-month trial of high-volume hits by Manilow and Doris Day to chase away car enthusiasts who were gathering on weekend nights at Cook Park Reserve.

The Underwater Music Festival had a brush with the King of Rock and Roll when an Elvis impersonator was among the snorkelers and divers who swam Looe Key Reef. Neil Goldberg, of Key West, dressed in a white-caped jumpsuit and flashy gold chains, joined several hundred visitors and residents who took the plunge for the six-hour weekend radio broadcast. "We even had a Chihuahua in goggles and a swim vest on one of the dive boats," festival founder Bill Becker told the Associated Press.

In early September this year, the Bestival event on the Isle of Wight, off England's south coast, was to have encouraged festival-goers to dress up in curly red wigs and oversized shoes.
