An error caused by a satellite navigation system sent Army tanks looking for their barracks to a tiny village in Shropshire.
Residents of Donnington were dumbfounded upon seeing rows of Army tanks entering their peaceful village.
"It's like an invasion. There have been cannons and some big weapons on the back of transporters," said David Strefford, 60, a farmer from Donnington.
According to reports the soldiers were on their way to their barracks with the same name as that of the picturesque hamlet but only 15 miles away.
"Their mapping systems must be a right mess. You'd have thought the Army would have realized what's going on by now," added Strefford. "There's only six houses down here so it doesn't even look anything like an army base. You start to think if a war broke out, how would our Army find its way around - it's a bit worrying."
A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Defense spokeswoman said they are investigating incident and "hope to resolve the issue."
