A 22-year-old farmer from the Philippines is facing up to 12 years imprisonment if found guilty of killing and eating an endangered and one of the rarest eagles in the world. Philippine Environment and Natural Resources Lito Atienza said Brian Balaon, has admitted of shooting the three-year-old Philippine eagle, one of the world's largest eagles, that was recently released by wildlife authorities on July 10.

Ten people including three children were safely rescued by a fishing vessel in Aleutian Islands after being trapped as a volcano erupted, spewing rocks and ash. According to U. S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Levi Read, 10 people were rescued south of the Okmok volcano on Umnak Island.

German authorities are searching for a killer in what is being called one of the worst cases of animal cruelty in the country's history. Since last year, more than 40 pet bunny-rabbits have been killed in the night in their outdoor hutches. Horrified owners found their beloved pets decapitated and drained of all their blood in many cases. The killer takes the head and collects the blood, leading investigators to think that the animal killer is involved in the occult or Satanism.

In a stark contrast of outcomes, two men who attempted to fly hundreds of miles on lawn chairs tied to helium balloons have landed. An Oregon man, Kent Couch, 48, successfully flew from his home more than 200 miles into Idaho Saturday, landing safely in a field and welcomed by excited towns people.

Authorities in Indiana reported that a semi-trailer loaded with more than 20 tons of Hershey's chocolate had suddenly disappeared. The vehicle disappeared 24 hours after driver Daryl Rey parked it at the Gas City truck stop, after picking up the haul near St. Louis. He discovered that the 53-foot trailer, and all the chocolate, were gone when he returned the next morning.
