Ship's Distress Signal Traced To Scrapyard

A distress signal supposedly send off by a ship was finally traced to a scrapyard in Belfast. According to a spokesman for Ofcom, the agency responsible for monitoring all radio broadcasts and for investigating cases of interference, the beacon was found in a mountain of scrapped fridges and TVs after the mayday was picked up by receivers on the Isle of Man.

Date With Porn Star Forces High School Teacher To Resign

A Monessen, Pennsylvania high school has accepted the resignation of a an art teacher after he won a date with a porn star on a radio show. Jaison Biagini, who taught art for 14 years in Monessen, near Pittsburgh, says he entered a Sirius satellite radio contest on the 'Bubba the Love Sponge' show because it would win him with a free weekend in Tampa. Biagini said he was interested in visiting the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg. The teacher won, and took off for Tampa, where he met porn star Akira.

Satellite Navigation Leads Man To Tram Line

A satellite navigation system failed a German man when the gadget led him directly onto a tram line. Reports said the unidentified 46-year-old man tried to back up his car but got stuck on the railway causing delays.

German Motorist Obeys Navigation System, Crashes Car

An overly-obedient motorist obeyed the "Turn right now!" command from his satellite navigation system and ended up crashing his car into a small toilet hut by the side of the road. The incident happened when Freiburg, 53, took the turn about 30 meters before the crossing he was actually meant to take. Following the beforehand command from the navigation system, Freiburg drove his sport utility vehicle off the road onto into a building site, up a stairway and into the small toilet shack, police in the eastern town of Rudolstadt said Sunday.

Man Became Lost Because He Followed His Satellite Navigation System

A high-tech gadget which was supposed to help him find his way while travelling, actually led an 80-year-old man into a pile of sand in Hamburg, Germany. Volker Heinmann said he bought his new satellite navigation system for his car and was following its instructions in the hope of finding a short cut and escape the traffic gridlock on the busy A24 near Hamburg.
