Saudi Prince Bandar has set his 56,000 square-foot mansion on a record sale of $135 million. If the Prince is able to find a buyer the purchase will be the costliest in U.S. real estate history.

Real estate agent Joshua Saslove says in a statement to the Aspen Times and the Aspen Daily News that Bandar's mountaintop hideaway has 15 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, a racquetball court, an indoor pool, and other outdoor water features. Saslove says the getaway is up for sale because the prince's been too busy to enjoy his palace.

Bandar is Saudi Arabia's former U.S. ambassador and currently chairs his nation's security council, spending a lot of time in Washington.

The offering also includes several small homes on the 95-acre property.

Prince bought the property above Aspen in 1989 and built the main residence in 1991.

Pitkin County Assessor's Office valued the main residence at $55.95 million; an estimate deputy assessor Larry Fite says is conservative.

Fite asks, "All of our values are based on comparable sales. Well, what do you compare this to?"

A close runner-up for Prince Bandar's expensive house is Donald Trump's mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, which is up for sale for $125 million. Trump's refurbished Maison de L'Amitie includes a ballroom, 100-foot-long swimming pool and 475 feet of oceanfront.
