Local authorities arrested three men who made an instructional video about how to "scam" fast food restaurants into giving free food.
The three men, 32-year-old Robert Echeverria and 18-year-olds Ian Anthony Roman and Brian Fawcett reportedly made a home video, entitled "How To Scam Del Taco," where they show the process of making a Rialto Del Taco restaurant hand over free food - in this case, seven tacos, a large order of fries, two quesadillas with extra chicken, and two sodas.
Naming himself Mr. Califero, the 500-pound Echeverria, while munching on his haul, explained how pretending to be a local CEO reporting problems with a bungled delivery, and with him not having a receipt, will eventually get them free food.
Local authorities got wind of the video from a tip, and arrested the three individuals, charging with second-degree commercial burglary.
"This seems to be the new wave of crimes being committed: posted on YouTube for the world to see," Lt. Joe Cirilo told Fox News. "They're victimizing someone here and making a joke out of it."
Echevierra's girlfriend, Juanita Garcia, claims the charges are excessive, blaming the police for taking out their frustrations towards a rapper named Mr. Califero on Echevierra.
"We saw it and obviously realized a crime was being committed," said Cirilo. "And the person was bragging about it."
The two 18-year-olds were released from police custody, but Echevierra was detained in lieu of a $125,000 bail.
The UPI reported that if convicted, the three could face up to seven years behind bars.
