A middle school coach was arrested and charged for leading a group of players into manipulating Christmas displays to depict images of a pornographic nature.

John Hayes, 46, while driving around in his pickup truck with middle school varsity football team at the back, allegedly placed a homeowner's reindeer displays in sexual positions. The group also destroyed several Christmas decorations they came across.

They were caught by a homeowner, who followed Hayes' pickup and confronted him.

The homeowner, who chose to remain anonymous, said "I said, 'Are you crazy?' and he said 'It's just a bit of fun.'"

Jennifer Schuchmann, another homeowner whose decorations were one of the many vandalized by Hayes and the players, was enraged.

"We try as hard as we can to keep our kids on the straight and narrow, and then to find out it was a parent actually doing this, it makes you wonder," the UPI quoted Schuchmann.

She said that Hayes willingly replaced the damaged displays.

A CBS report added that Hayes refused to give comments or face press. Police said that Hayes was uncooperative, and refused to give out the names of the varsity players involved.

The coach was charged with trespassing, contributing to the delinquency, and reckless conduct.

He was released on a $2,500 bond. A court date is yet to be set.
