A village school in Norfolk, East Anglia in eastern England is planning to build a new classroom made entirely from straw bales. The pupils at St. Andrew's school, have designed the environmentally-friendly room in a project on Celtic round houses.
The school has 59 students from 2-years-old to 11. The school has been given permission to construct the straw classroom.
However, the school needs over $190,000 for the construction of the new room, which will also serve as a village hall.
Jeni Barnacle, head teacher at St. Andrew's said, "The bales will be fantastic insulation in winter and keep it cool in the summer."
Wind farm operator Enertag has offered the school a turbine to make its own power.
