The parents of kids who brought home the "sex" edition Winnacunnet High School's newspaper - Winnachronicle said they were highly offended by a photograph of two women kissing under the headline, "Why men love women who love women."

Many of them are also protesting against the contents of the newspaper which included a quiz question about anal sex and interview with an unnamed custodian who said he had found a vibrator in the girls' shower.

AP quotes Venus Merrill, a school board member as saying, "It's not something you want to read with your 10-year-old and it's not something that should be going home."

Admitting that the newspaper edition had violated the code of conduct, school Principal Randy Zito said he had dealt with the problem privately and ordered concerned authorities to pull out copies of the remaining paper that were destined to be sent to middle schools.

However, the decision to introduce "sex" edition was defended by newspaper faculty who said the February edition of the paper is meant for the education of the kids, although they knew it would create controversy.

According to adviser Carol Downer, the articles were written by kid's only who themselves came up with the topic. "They didn't go out to cause controversy, but the Winnachronicle is also not a [public relations] piece for the high school. This is a place for students to express their view and talk about issues that are troubling the student body," he added.
