An Italian thief played a part in his own capture by calling a cellphone he lost while robbing an elderly woman of her purse. The 77-year-old victim gave the phone to police, who then arranged a meeting with the robber.

A self-proclaimed kilt-wearing Czech rebel, has been staging a one-man protest to demand independence for his home region. Called the "Czech Braveheart" after his idol William Wallace, the 27-year-old Alois Stuzka has managed to cause some public disruptions. Officials in Naples are apologizing to a man who was mugged and then beaten by locals while the criminals escaped. Matthew Godfrey, 25, was visiting Naples from the U. S. when his camera was stolen by two men who fled on a scooter. As he chased after them, he was attacked, allowing the men to escape.

An Italian scooter rider racked up a record 144 points off his 20 point drivers license in a few minutes of reckless driving. The ANSA news agency reported that police in the northwestern Italian city of Turin chased the young rider after he evaded their attempts to stop him for breaking the law by not wearing a helmet on Tuesday evening.
