A shopping center in Renfrewshire, Scotland was forced to advise Santa Claus to wear a helmet after being pelted with mince pies. It was reported that several youngsters threw the mince pies from the upper level of the Paisley Center in Renfrewshire as Santa was giving out presents to children visiting the shop.

The statues of four bronze pigeons in Edinburgh, Scotland, were stripped of wool coats a man gave them to "protect" them from cold. The bronze pigeons at the top of Leith Walk in the city's historic port district were covered in woolen coats by a "good Samaritan" a few days ago. However, the woolens were reportedly removed by some needy people.

A private school in Scotland is trying to save the dying art of penmanship by requiring that all its students write with fountain pens. The school's headmaster fears writing longhand will soon be a mere memory due to computers and text messaging, and he's doing what he can to keep it alive.
