A body taken from a funeral home by mistake found its way to a landfill, after two days of searching for the corpse police have called it quits. Erwin Jordan, 66, died on December 20 of heart disease and his body was stored inside a zipped body bag and white cremation box at a funeral home in western Michigan. A garbage man took the body by accident on January 5, and officials believe it was left at the dump on Friday.

The U. S. Coast Guard and other law enforcement agencies were scouring the 40-degree waters of the Hackensack River Sunday night, after two emergency workers plunged their vehicle off the Hackensack River Bridge. Tom Sperduto, with the U. S. Coast Guard in New York, says one of their crew responded to a call at about 8:15 p. m. about a Jersey City EMS vehicle that had careened into the river off what is also known as the Lincoln Highway River Bridge.

Miami police search for a suspected serial rapist who escaped from a Miami-Dade County jail. According to authorities, 34-year-old Reynaldo Rapalo and another inmate used bed sheets to climb down the roof of Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center about 9:30 p. m. Tuesday night.

Authorities are questioning a teen after he is found with chemicals and suspected bomb-making equipment in his house in Lancashire. During a search of the house, police found materials thought to be used for bomb making. A 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possessing explosive devices.

Prosecutors in Norway indicted six people for participating in the theft of Edward Munch masterpieces "The Scream" and "Madonna. "In August 2004, masked gunmen took the famous paintings from the Munch Museum in Oslo in broad daylight. The pieces are still missing, despite an extensive search and a $300,000 reward for their recovery, reports The Associated Press.
