Ten dogs have been honored with badges from the Customs and Border Protection Canine Enforcement Training Center for successfully completing 13-week special program. The dogs now will be used to sniff out bombs, drugs and people trying to sneak into the country.

Purdue University has bows to pressure from students who object to the university naming a building after Earl Butz, a former Agriculture Secretary under President Nixon, who resigned due to a racist joke he made at a party. The lecture hall was dedicated last October for the 96-year old for his role as a longtime Purdue faculty member, agriculture dean, and financial contributor.

After several criticizing reports, the federal government revises its Website containing information for parents about educating their children about sex. In its first month, the site received about 5 million hits. Recently, the section on sexual orientation was changed to address some of the concerns voiced by the gay rights community.

At least they don't have to run along side a limo to do their jobs. The U. S. Secret Service is being charged with the duty of watching over the well being of a mother duck and her clutch of nine eggs located in a nest near the entrance to the Treasury Department. Various names are being suggested for the brown mallard, including "Duck Chaney" and "Quacks Reform". Metal rails are set up to guard the fowl and her nest from curious on-lookers and tourists who gather daily as they make their way to the White House. Officials including Treasury Secretary John Snow often stop by to check on the bird. The duck will be relocated near water after her eggs hatch, which is expected in about three weeks. Treasury Department spokesman Rob Nichols says "Foreign leaders, members of Congress, everybody who visits Treasury has to pass by the duck".
