Motorists in the Philippine capital of Manila and nearby cities, beware. The chief of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, the agency tasked to handle traffic situation in Manila, is proposing to arm traffic enforces with hatchets "so they would be effective in apprehending traffic violators. " But the Presidential Palace immediately rejected the proposal of MMDA chief Bayani Fernando saying arming traffic enforces with bladed weapons was not necessary to effectively manage traffic flows.

Most have traded in their scanty work attire for the buibui, a modest, loose, flowing gown and head covering favored by Muslim women. In the city's red-light district, several buibui clad ladies of the night walk the streets. Some gave reasons for this change in clothing styles.

The second class to enter the Air Force Academy since Sept. 11, 2001 graduated Thursday morning. It wasn't a grim ceremony. Along with watching a show by the Thunderbirds after the ceremony and tossing their hats in the air, the 1,000 member graduating class was also able to view video of a boogying cadet beforehand. Along with talking about what the dangers cadets will face on the battlefield, commencement speaker Defense Secretary Robert Gates told the cadets he had seen the funny video himself.

An Austin man who allegedly put his dog's feces in the same envelope he used for the payment of a parking ticket has now been charged with disorderly conduct. Police ticketed the vehicle of this 22-year-old on April 18 while it was parked in front of his residence. To show his annoyance, the man put an envelope containing his payment and dog feces in a drop box at the law enforcement center.

A 17-year-old Japanese high school student turned himself over to authorities along with the head of who he claims to be his mother. The teen admitted to killing his mother while she was sleeping during the eve of her 47th birthday. The Japanese teenager brought the police to his house located in Aizuwakamatsu city and showed a beheaded body in his apartment. He added, "It didn't matter who I killed. "
