British artist Damien Hirst sold his sculpture of a diamond-encrusted skull worth $100 million, an all time high price for a piece of work sold by a single living artist, the London gallery said Thursday. Hirst named the unique piece of art, "For the Love of God. " The masterpiece is a skull cast in platinum with 8,601 diamonds. When the original skull was subjected to carbon dating for authenticity, it was found that his model dated back to the 18th century.

It's the ultimate fish story. The crew of a chartered boat hauled in a 1,063-pound mako shark. The shark was more than half the size of the boat. The crew was fishing in the Gulf of Mexico when they hooked the 12-foot-6 shark.

An Australian man, drunk on vodka, caught a shark with his bare hands while fishing off a jetty at Louth Bay, a town on South Australia state's Eyre Peninsula, about 870 miles west of Sydney. Phillip Kerkhof caught a 1. 3-meter (4-ft. ) bronze whaler shark with his bare hands off an Australian beach on Friday while it was swimming in shallow waters.

In what seems like a scene straight out of a horror movie, a 41-year-old Australian diver miraculously escaped the jaws of a great white shark off the southern coast of Sydney. Eric Nerhus was diving for the shellfish abalone off of Cape Howe when a 10-ft-long great white shark attacked him, crushing through his face mask, and breaking his nose, before Nerhus managed to pry free from the shark's grip.

Ralph, the popular whale shark at the Georgia Aquarium, has died. Ralph was one of only four whale sharks in the aquarium. His keepers say he was only a teenager and they are unsure about what caused his death. They say shortly before his death, Ralph had not been eating well and had been showing some unusual swimming patterns. He had been at the aquarium since 2005.
