A mattress store owner is still puzzled after thieves made off with his inflatable sheep. Jim Sather, co-owner of the America's Mattress in Rochester, Minnesota, says someone stole his Serta Mattresses' inflatable 14-foot sheep.

Hunters in the Bavarian Alps shot dead a brown bear, nicknamed Bruno, after spending weeks trying to find it. German authorities had previously declared the bear could be shot dead as it posed a danger to humans.

An Indian state has removed nursery rhymes such as "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and "Baa Baa Black Sheep" from its primary school syllabus because they are "too Western," newspapers said Wednesday. As per Reuters, the government in the central state of Madhya Pradesh, run by the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, dropped the immensely popular rhymes from its Class I syllabus taught to five-year-olds.

Australian researchers are in search of country's ugliest sheep so that they could identify the genes that produce high quality wool. Scientists hope that "through the latest DNA-based technology, it's the ugly sheep that will help us make quantum leaps to advance the qualities of Australian merino wool to make it more stretchy, less scratchy, shinier and easier to spin," said Paul Hynd, a researcher from the University of Adelaide.
