A shocked waitress received a $10,000 tip from a customer "who wants her to buy something nice." Ironically, the regular customer's bill was only $26.

According to the Hutchinson News, Cindy Kienow works as a waitress at the Applebee's Bar and Grill located in Hutchinson, Kansas and identifies her customer as a man in his mid-40s.

She told the paper, "He usually signs his ticket and flips it upside down. But this time, he had it right side up and said, 'I want you to know this is not a joke.'"

The woman said it is normal for the man to give her tips every time she serves him. Two weeks ago, the same customer gave her a $100 tip.

She adds, "I couldn't move. I didn't know what to say. He said, 'This will buy you something kind of nice, huh?' and I said 'Yeah, it will.'"

"I've been waiting on him for about three years. We'd just talk across the bar - he's a really nice guy. I hope he comes back in so I can tell him thank you, because the other day I was kind of dumb-founded."

The owner of the bar Rhodri McNee, said the company is trying to verify if the tip is not sham.

He said, "Nothing would make us happier than to present her with that check. She's been with us for eight years, and she's a great employee who does a great job."
