A national outcry to keep the public toilets clean on the tiny island-state of Singapore has been voiced by its citizens, according to a national survey released on Tuesday.
A high degree of public dissatisfaction was expressed in the survey, despite fines for filthy toilets and national campaigns to keep them clean.
According to the survey conducted by the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, 53 percent of the respondents cited cleanliness of toilets as one of the primary environmental challenges.
Ninety-nine percent were positive about the current state of the environment, with 64 percent noting it is better than it was three years ago.
Meanwhile, Fifty-three percent acknowledged public toilets had improved in the last three years.
