The Phoenix-based toy maker ModelWorks introduced this week a "Smash-Me Bernie" doll at the industry-only Toy Fair in New York, to target market mad at the crumbling economy, particularly to executives believed responsible for the slump.
The doll was created in the likeness of Bernard Madoff, the Wall Street financier accused of duping investors $50 billion in a Ponzi scheme.
The mini-Madoff doll comes compete with devil suit and pitchfork.
The $100 doll comes with a hammer, the better to fulfill the "Smash-Me" part of its name.
Buyers of the doll can use the hammer that comes with the doll to vent their anger at Madoff.
Madoff is under house arrest in New York after he confessed to his son that he was running a Ponzi scheme.
On the Web site of ModelWorks, buyers are encouraged to place their order online and get a "limited edition Hammer which you can use to pulverize Bernie Madoff."
