A woman received two snake bites while shopping at a Lowe's Home Improvement store in Ocala, Florida. Officials say the woman, 42, was looking at plants when she felt a "stinging feeling" in her leg. She looked down to find she was bitten.

An Indiana man is crushed to death by his 14-foot pet python. The body of Patrick Von Allmen, 23, was found in a shed near Lanesville. A medical examiner concluded that asphyxiation caused by compression of the neck and chest killed Von Allmen.

Pranksters release two live snakes during a showing of "Snakes on a Plane" in a Phoenix, Arizona theater. AMC Entertainment Inc. spokeswoman Melanie Bell says two diamondback rattlesnakes were set loose during the movie, which is about deadly snakes terrorizing passengers on a plane. She tells Reuters, "One was found in the parking lot during the show, and the other in the movie theater. They were both removed, and no one was harmed. "

Snakes are frequent flyers on airplanes; they are crisscrossing the skies as part of an emerging market in pet reptiles. However, they travel in cargo confined to fortified cages. Mike Osborn, a wildlife inspector with the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) at the Los Angeles International Airport told NationalGeographic. com, "In my 20-odd years, I've never heard of an incident where a snake escaped into the passenger area. "
