The son of Miami's police chief is arrested for trying to buy 400 pounds of marijuana from an undercover federal agent.

25-year old Sean Timoney of Philadelphia reportedly gave the agent a gym bag filled with about $450,000 in cash. Sean is the son of John Timoney, who was Philadelphia's police chief before becoming Miami's chief.

Sean and 23-year-old Jae Seu were arrested in a Spring Valley, New york hotel, and charged with conspiracy to possess and distribute a controlled substance. Both are being held in Albany for a bail hearing scheduled for Friday.

Miami police spokesman Delrish Moss says John Timoney is "aware of the arrest. He does not have all the details and he's not going to comment on it publicly because it's a private family matter."

Timoney is well-known in law enforcement circles and is often sought out by television networks to comment on police affairs.
