A landlord is accused of secretly installing cameras in the apartments of his female tenants.
Thomas Daley, 45, who has been the landlord at the same building for 19 years, faces more than 2,000 charges for allegedly violating the privacy of at least 34 tenants for up to two decades. Other charges include wiretapping as well as burglary and evidence tampering, for allegedly attempting to break into two apartments and removing cameras once he knew of the investigation.
Daley's sophisticated surveillance system was discovered after a tenant found one of the hidden cameras in her apartment in September.
Reportedly, Daley hid cameras behind mirrors, in pinholes, ceiling fans and cabinets in the bedrooms and bathrooms in at least seven apartments. The voyeur is reported to have had the camera's connected to feeds in the basement, where recordings were made that he could view on the internet while at home.
Daley is in jail on $1 million bond. Prosecutors told the press they are hopeful for a guilty plea.
