The first planned hotel in space set to open in 2012 is offering the most expensive room accommodation in the galaxy at $4 million for a three-night stay, the news.com.au reported on Friday.

The accommodation package at the Galactic Suite includes the flight to the hotel, an 80-minute orbit around Earth, the sight of 15 sunrises per day and eight weeks of intensive preflight training at a space camp on a tropical island.

The hotel's director, aerospace engineer Xavier Claramunt, said each room is contained in a capsule affixed to a central nucleus. Each room measures seven meters wide by four meters high and has a big window and a bathroom.

Initially, 22 rooms will be made available. The rooms will be positioned and installed in orbit by a space shuttle three at a time.

Claramunt said the world's 40,000 richest people are potential customers of the Galactic Suite.

He said an American company has joined him the hotel project, which would cost $3 billion to realize. Claramunt added that he is talking with private investors from Japan, U.S. and the United Arab Emirates to support the project.
