A Delta Air Lines flight headed from New York to Trinidad narrowly avoided a mid-air, head-on collision with a Russian-registered passenger jet near near Puerto Rico, a U. S. official said Friday. Peter Knudson of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) told AFP news that a Delta Boeing B737-800 and a Transaero Boeing B747-400, registered in Russia, were travelling toward one another on Thursday night at the exact same altitude of 10,058 meters (33,000 feet).

One person died and dozens of spectators were injured during Sunday's opening ceremony and Monday's running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. Although six bulls were turned loose to rampage down Pamplona's narrow streets, most spectators were injured due to falls. The death of an Irish spectator was attributed to falling from where he was sitting on a wall.

Two Spanish children have been sent to a mental health institution by their parents to get treatment for addiction to their mobile phones. The children had allegedly ceased to undertake normal activities without first having their phones. The children, aged 12 and 13, were admitted to Child and Youth Mental Health Centre in Lleida, in northeastern Spain near Barcelona, three months ago. Their concerned parents brought them in after they spend an average of six hours a day on their phones, talking, texting or playing games.

According to the World Naked Bike Ride Website, the annual ride is held in cities all over the world "to celebrate cycling and the human body. The ride demonstrates the vulnerability of cyclists on the road and is a protest against oil dependency. "

The French fashion industry led fashion houses, advertising firms and media outlets signed on Wednesday a charter to fight anorexia among models in magazine advertisements and catwalks. The anti-anorexia drive in the world's fashion capital was led by Health Minister Roselyne Bachelot along with groups in other countries worldwide. This will put an end to the display of ultra-skinny bodies of fashion models.
