Discount air carrier, Spirit Airlines, has received multiple complaints after announcing its "The Hunt for Hoffa" game.
The game was based on the FBI's decades-old search for missing Teamsters president, Jimmy Hoffa, which recently involved a search of a farm in Milford Township, near Detroit.
Spirit spokeswoman Lynne Koreman tells The Detroit News, "We never set out to offend anybody. It was done all in good fun and topical humor. We got a couple of dozen complaints. Some people thought it was in bad taste."
According to the paper, the Spirit Airlines website posted the ad, "Help us find Hoffa with our Hunt for Hoffa game and enjoy fares from just $39 each way."
According to the Associated Press, the point of the game was to dig for Hoffa's body by clicking grids... Winners were taken to another site that read "You found Hoffa!" and thanked them for helping the National Spirit Sale Center find the missing union leader.
