Two playful squirrels caused power outages in two states Monday, affecting more than 1,500 customers and interrupting supply for nearly an hour. Squirrels are the leading causes of outages in the United States, next only to severe weather. Thus, power companies make it a point that these curious animals either do not come in contact with the lines or have no way of entering their facilities.

A grey squirrel had to be rescued from a bird feeder after eating so many peanuts that it could not squeeze itself out through the bars, the RSPCA (Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty against Animals) said Thursday. A worried resident in Dorset, England, called RSPCA inspector Graham Hammond on October 17 after finding the squirrel stuck in the peanut-filled feeder.

The aggressive rampage of a squirrel in southern Germany finally came to an end on Tuesday after a 72-year-old pensioner killed the creature with his crutch. The squirrel however injured three people during the mayhem. AP reports that the rodent bit its first victim when it jumped through a living-room window in Passau, on the Austrian border, on Tuesday. The woman shook off the squirrel by running in the street while it was still hanging on by its teeth to her.

A Janesville, Wisconsin woman, who had been taking care of a sick squirrel for three weeks, ended up being scratched and bitten by the ungrateful animal. The 47-year-old woman, whose name is not released, said she found the small and sick squirrel in her window sill about three weeks ago wanted to take "care for it. "
