Mexican wave campaigner Matthew Newton says his $25 ticket to the Australia-New Zealand cricket match was worth the national publicity to bring back the Aussie crowd tradition. Newton was ejected from the MCG after instigating a stadium wide Mexican wave, which has been banned by Cricket Australia.

A group of French demonstrators took to the streets to protest the coming of the New Year. The demonstrators were carrying placards and banners saying "No to 2007" and "Now is better" as they marched through the streets of Nantes in Frances.

A Norwegian appeal court ruling has declared that striptease is an art and should therefore be exempt from value-added tax (VAT). Three judges ruled unanimously that "striptease, in the way it is practiced in this case, is a form of dance combined with acting. " It was compared to other stage acts that enjoy VAT exemption in Norway.

The Gloucester New Olympus Theater in Gloucester, south-west England, was forced to pull-out from the act a pantomime genie because he has grown to fat that he keeps getting stuck in the trap door. Alan Myatt was suppose to appear on stage to play the part of a pantomime genie in a play, through a trap door, but his 56-inch waistline will not let him.

Magician Jonathan Pendragon has relied on his 10-year-old Samoyed dog named Kashmere for years. The old reliable companion had been a part of Pendragon's show for years and the dog had been a faithful friend to the magician. But the illusionist got a new-found respect for his hairy friend recently when the dog helped to save his life. Pendragon was practicing some new material for his upcoming tour one day when things went terribly wrong. He had been experimenting with a new illusion where he used a compound bow and arrow. Somehow the trick went awry and the arrow pierced Pendragon's heart. As he lie bleeding profusely on the floor, he tried to get a signal on his cell phone to call 911, but he lost consciousness before he was able to dial out.
