Money was no object as fans showed their love by paying top dollar for Star Trek memorabilia on Christie's auction of items from the cult television and movie franchise.
An online bidder paid $132,000 for a model of the Starship Enterprise E, a whopping jump from its $8,000 to $12,000 pre-sale estimate.
While a telephone bidder won a 30-square-inch Borg cube model used in "Star Trek: First Contact," for $96,000. Its estimated value had been between $1,000 and $1,500.
"The energy was definitely beyond what I expected," said Cathy Elkies, Christie's director of special collections.
Some 1,000 lots of the CBS Paramount Television material will be auctioned off during the three-day sale.
The auction celebrates the 40th anniversary of "Star Trek" and will see such collectibles like costumes worn by William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk and Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Spock from the original 1966 television series, go on sale.
One bidder even came in as Picard and purchased actor Ron Perlman's vinyl jumpsuit from "Star Trek: Nemesis" for $6,000.
"It's with Picard then," the auctioneer said during bidding, adding, "A sentence I never thought I'd say."
