One police officer didn't know if people should call him the grinch after arresting a man for stealing Christmas gifts for his "Honey Bunny."

Richard Perez, 43 was caught stealing items from the hotel where he works as a security guard. A surveillance camera caught him leaving a hotel room with a covered cart.

When police searched his home they found a sleep number bedding system installed in the bedroom and a plasma television wrapped up under the Christmas tree.

Police said the gift was addressed to "Mom, Honey Bunny from Big Papa, Daddy."

Merrillville police Detective Donald Toth said, "I'm not sure if he's the Grinch or I'm the Grinch because I'm the one who took the items back."

Perez was charged with theft and fired from his job.
