Police discover a successful South Florida real estate broker was once a member of the notorious 1970's Stopwatch Gang, infamous for robberies carried out in less than 90 seconds, timed by a stopwatch.

According to investigators, the "Stopwatch Gang" robbed more than 100 banks and armored cars in the 1970's and 80's throughout the United States and Canada. In later years, investigators say two people joined the alleged gang specifically to add drug-dealing to the operations.

One of those men was Stephen Willis Duffy. On Tuesday, Duffy was arrested in Broward County, Florida under his real name, Chris John Clarkson.

Investigators report Clarkson has been sought in Canada since 1976 on charges of conspiracy to distribute narcotics. He jumped bail during his trial and fled to California. Detectives find that while in California, Clarkson stole the identity of a California boy who died in 1948. Under the name of the deceased Stephen Duffy, he received a real estate license and a gun permit.

Agents from the State Department Diplomatic Security Service found Clarkson when their San Franciso office cross-checked California infant deaths with California Drivers licenses.

Clarkson was arrested at his offices of Capital Real Estate Group.

Clarkson is being held on federal lockup.
