The owner of a Boise, Idaho, strip club that was publicized in international news for its "art night" promotion, pleads guilty to three misdemeanor charges for violating Boise's anti-nudity law.
Boise law requires dancers to wear at least pasties and thongs, although the law has a clause allowing nudity for "serious artistic merit." Christopher Teague, the owner of the club Erotic City, said they began art night because he feels the ordinance is unconstitutional.
Teague tried to avoid the city's anti-nudity law by giving his clientele sketch pads and pencils to draw nude dancers.
He said, "What are they doing on stage? It's dancing. Is it an art form? Of course it is."
Magistrate Judge Thomas Watkins dismissed Teague's declaration that the ordinance is unconstitutional.
Teague is scheduled to be sentenced May 19th and is expected to serve six months in jail. He will be fined up to $300.
