Strippers and prostitutes are demonstrating for more legal protection and the decriminalization of prostitution. The protest is being held in downtown Las Vegas on the steps of the city's courthouse.
Sex industry workers say all too often, workers claims of rape and violence are ignored by authorities and that anti-human trafficking laws are sometimes unfairly used against sex industry workers.
The demonstration capped off a three-day conference sponsored by the Sex Workers Outreach Project-USA.
Organizers say the attention and money poured into enforcing rules against the sex industry should be used to fight other problems.
Nevada is the only state in the country that allows prostitution, having legalized it in 10 counties.
