Nevada's Clark County School District may be some 400 teachers short this year, but it did add to its coffers thanks to the generosity of a Las Vegas strip club.
Scores Las Vegas raised $2,500 for the district by holding an event called "Detention," in which strippers were dressed as teachers, schoolgirls and librarians.
An advertisement said, "It's back to school time and you know what that means. Detention for everyone who has been bad!"
The strippers took off their clothes and offered lap dances to customers.
The club left out a jar, and said donations would go to the Clark County School District. Customers left more than $1,000 in the jar, and Scores matched the donations.
Scores' marketing director, Shai Cohen, tells Reuters, "In this town, money is money, regardless... We're a respectable business. We pay taxes like everybody else. We have a business license. It's for a good cause."
The Public Education Foundation, which supports the school district, accepted the donation from the strip club.
A letter from president Judi Steele to Scores says "Thank you for your donation of $2,500, received on August 30, 2006... Thank you again for your willingness to support our community and invest in our children... our future."
