A Witchita High School Senior has become one of the few students in the nation to ace both the ACT and the SAT standardized tests.
Jakub Voboril, 17 attends Bishop Carroll High School. He told a local newspaper that he had tried to find some magical formula to study before the test but realized it didn't exist.
Voboril told The Witchita Eagle, "It's weird, because before I took it, I checked out a couple books from the library. I expected there to be this big secret that all the smart people had that I just had to read. But I found out there's not a secret formula. Obviously, you have to pay attention in classes, take classes that are going to teach you what you need to know -- that sort of thing."
While he may not have expected it he said he did prepare for it. Voboril signed up for "Official SAT Question of the Day" on the college board's web site. Voboril said the program sends a question to your e-mail inbox daily, giving the student an idea of the questions asked in the tests.
Voboril grew up with a superintendent father and school nurse for a mother but the teen's father, Bob said they never pressured their children.
Bob Voboril said, "We don't ever say to them, 'We expect As.' The most important thing is not the grades they get, it's the kind of people they are. We truly believe that if you shape your kids to be good human beings, then they will naturally become good students."
