A student turns herself in for allegedly spiking a classmate's drink with bleach because she desired the lead in a school play.
The Associated Press reports a warrant was issued for Katherine A. Smith, 18, more than a week ago.
She surrendered to authorities on Wednesday. She is charged with tampering with a consumer product.
Smith faces up to 20-years-in prison.
Authorities accuse Smith of pouring bleach in Mountain Dew and giving the drink to a 15-year-old theater student.
The incident occurred a day after "Ha!" opened at L.D. Bell High School. Tests conducted on the drink showed it contained components of bleach.
The 15-year-old detected an odor and told an assistant principal, who called police. The investigation took more than three months because of difficulties testing the drink.
