It was a luck day for a 26-year-old student from Madison, Wisconsin when a delivery truck ran over his head, and he was able to walk away unharmed. Ryan Lipscomb says he was "confused" especially after he saw the condition of his crushed helmet.
The incident took place on Friday afternoon when Lipscomb, a graduate student in medical physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, was riding his bicycle. As he approached an intersection where he said he had a green light, he noticed the truck ready to make a right turn in front of him.
According to reports, the student felt that the truck wasn't going to stop so he immediately applied his brakes, flipping his bike and landing in the street. Moments later, the truck ran him over.
His Giro helmet came to his rescue to save his head and was left with tread marks on the cracked frame. Lipscomb was taken to the hospital and released about three hours later.
It was still unclear if police registered it as a hit-and-run incident because they were not able to determine whether the driver knew someone had been hit.
