Dan Harris, UK Rubik's Speedcubing Champion, is a strong contender for the Rubik's Cube World Championship this Sunday, which marks the 25th Anniversary of the birth of the Rubik's Cube, brainchild of Hungarian designer and architect, Professor Erno Rubik. The second official Rubik's World Championship will be held at the Walt Disney Pop Century Resort in Florida on Sunday, November 6.

Hispanic teens are more likely than blacks and whites to attend public high schools that have the most number of students, the highest concentrations of poor students, and highest student-teacher ratios, according to a new Pew Hispanic Center study. The report finds more than half of Latinos (56-percent) attend the nation's largest public high schools -- those schools whose enrollment size ranks them in the 90th percentile or higher. That's compared with 32-percent of blacks and 26-percent of whites.

A Pennsylvania girl could lose her arm after being bitten by a poisonous snake at school. The local police chief says the 14-year-old could have died if she hadn't gotten the quick medical treatment she did.

A 20-year old University of Minnesota student was killed Saturday in a post-game celebration after the field goal post was torn down and struck the student in the head. Richard Thomas Rose, of Benton City, Wash. , was pronounced dead at a hospital after attempts to revive him on the field failed. No one else was reported hurt in the freak accident.
