Russian authorities in Moscow raised terror alerts when a loud explosion ripped through a university dormitory, damaging the building.
No one was reported injured by the explosion, which was caused by a Russian chemistry student who blew up his homework.
Police said Sergei Makarenko, 20, was mixing some chemicals inside his dormitory at Moscow State University to complete a project when the explosion occurred.
The police were immediately called to the scene after authorities feared the blast was part of a terror attack on the university.
According to an Ananova report, a spokesman for the police said they feared an extremist group had carried out a terror attack. He said, "It was as if someone had let a bomb off."
Another student, identified as Andrey Kruschev, said, "We all thought it was a terrorist attack at the time. I guess sometimes even homework can be dangerous."
