The researchers at University of Nottingham proved an old belief that money can't buy happiness wrong. Their study found that winning millions does make lottery players extremely happy.
The study, conducted among the lottery players, also revealed that 20 per cent of winners, who were previously single, had ended up getting married in a short time.
Dr Richard Tunney, the study's researcher and a psychology lecturer at the university, said that the study proved the old belief wrong.
"The old saying money can't buy you happiness may not be true," he told the Mirror.
"A comfortable home and financial security are clearly key elements to a happy life. Most don't snap up penthouses. They stick to their roots, invest in property close to their original home and keep holidays low-key," he said.
