Major League Baseball and the NFL are not the only sports dealing with suspicions of mass doping. California has taken measures to protect race horses, not only from being doped to win races, but to deter people from using the animals as testing grounds for substances intended for human use. The new tactic is intended to surprise cheaters and disallow them to prepare for drug tests.

Ice cream maker Good Humor has partnered with pet food producer Pedigree to produce ice cream sandwiches for dogs. The Pedigree Ice Cream Sandwich Treats for Dogs will be dairy-based with the same texture as ice cream, but only 1 percent lactose because many pooches are lactose intolerant.

Anti-drug campaigners attacked the makers of a high-energy soft drink who named their product cocaine. The drink is being billed as a "legal alternative" to the class A drug, using a massive hit of caffeine instead of cocaine. The drink's inventor, Jamie Kirby, who claims the title is "a bit of fun" tells the Daily Mail, "It's an energy drink, and it's a fun name. As soon as people look at the can, they smile. "

A study made by the Manchester Metropolitan University has found that mice really don't like cheese, debunking the myth that was popularized in the cartoon show "Tom and Jerry. " Dr. David Holmes of the university said studies found that mice prefer foods with lots of sugar like chocolates and cheese does not fit that.

Chinese officials will be using bananas and sugar to try to lure hungry elephants away from farmlands. According to a Reuters report, three villagers were killed by elephants around nature reserves in Xishuangbanna in the southwest province of Yunnan. Also, 12,000 families have reported that their crops were destroyed last year to elephants.
