A 106-year-old widow and her 30-year-old caretaker ended their lives together in a joint suicide pact at the residence the two shared.

Police report the bodies of Helen Godet and her caretaker of nine years, David Lund, were found Friday along with suicide notes dated Dwecember 27, 2005 indicating that Lund strangled the woman after she decided she could not take her own life.

Police Inspector Dennis Maffei says, "She was supposed to drink the poison, but she could not do it."

The inspector continues, "It said that she wanted to kill herself... It was just time."

Following the strangulation, Lund ingested a fatal dose of antifreeze and perished.

Social workers and people close to the two report that they were inseparable and Lund slept on Godet's couch, following an introduction nine years ago.
